Florence Printmaking Workshop
Be Inspired…
4-18 September 2026
We are thrilled to announce our inaugural Printmaking Workshop in Florence Italy, where Phoebe and her sister Kristie Phelan (Former Head of Sturt Gallery and Studios) will take an intimate group of 12 to Florence to explore linocut and collagraph printmaking at Il Bisonte – an incredible historic studio where Picasso created his linocut prints. We are grateful to draw on the generous advice and expertise of the Printmaking Sisters Annie Day and Robin Ezra who have hosted printmaking students in Florence for decades.
Stimulated by one of the most culturally inspiring cities in the world, Phoebe will guide you how to capture your experience of Florence in a series of lino-cut still lifes that will come together in a book to cherish from your travels.
Suitable for adults of all skill levels, you will create work on traditional etching presses in the historic Il Bisonte Stable Studio with the finest local materials, developing your understanding of print design, lino caring and basic etching techniques in a non-toxic, solvent free environment.
The unforgettable experience will include welcome supper and drinks on arrival; 8 days in studio hands-on making over the two weeks with all materials provided; breaks on Wednesdays for fascinating art history tour and talk, and a day trip to San Gimignano; plus a final group celebration.
Students will book their own accommodation and flights, allowing you to customise the budget/level of luxury with your experience.
