2 Week Printmaking Workshop

We are thrilled to announce our inaugural Florence Printmaking Workshop, where Phoebe Middleton (printmaker/arts educator) and her sister, Kristie Phelan (creative director/former Head of Sturt Gallery & Studios) will take an intimate group on an unforgettable creative escape to one of the most culturally inspiring cities in the world!  

Join us for two weeks of creative bliss at the iconic ‘Il Bisonte Foundation for Art and Printmaking', famous for printing works by Picasso, Matisse, and Henry Moore. Picture yourself on this inspiring getaway, exploring an introduction to printmaking techniques in a studio steeped in history.  In your free time, wander along the Arno like a local; explore world-class museums and galleries, browse fabulous markets, linger over Tuscan food and wine, and discover hidden artisan workshops and boutiques. Together we'll create a series of still-life prints that will culminate in a beautiful artist's journal of your adventure - a tangible reminder of your time in Florence.

The Workshop

Enjoy making in the historic Stable Studio (once Napoleon's brothers' stables) with the finest materials - experimenting and developing your understanding of print design, intaglio, and relief printing techniques in a non-toxic, solvent-free environment.

This workshop has been developed with the generous advice and expertise of the Printmaking Sisters, Annie Day and Robin Ezra, who have guided printmaking students at Il Bisonte for over a decade.

Tutors   

Phoebe Middleton
Printmaker & Lead Tutor

Phoebe brings decades of experience in printmaking/design/education, as well as a deep passion for helping students express themselves through printmaking. Her classes are known for warmth, clarity, and creative discovery.

Kristie Phelan
Assistant Tutor & Tour Coordinator

Kristie is a seasoned event producer and organiser, who ensures that your Florence experience runs smoothly — from logistics to local culture.

Scout Newell
Studio Assistant & art educator

Scout provides in-studio support, helping you feel confident and taken care of throughout your creative journey.
